Information about the American Bullfrog: The American Bullfrog is a medium-sized amphibian and member of the family Ranidae or “True Frogs.” They’re found in much of the US near any permanent bodies of water such as ponds, lakes, swamps and bogs. They are very sturdy and adaptable frogs, and have been introduced – sometime by accident and sometime on purpose – into ecosystems that cannot handle their voracious appetite. The will basically eat anything moving that can fit into their large mouths. In some areas of the US they are raised for food use. The Bullfrog is the state amphibian of Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma.
