Information about the Boa Constrictor: The Boa Constrictor is a very large snake native to various environments – from semi-arid desert country to tropical rainforests. There are roughly 10 subspecies found in North, South and Central America as well a some islands in the Caribbean. Though all boids are constrictors, only this species is properly referred to as “Boa constrictor” This marks a fairly rare instance of an animal having the same common English name and scientific binomial name. While the Boa Constrictor is a good sized snake, it is still generally smaller than the Burmese and Reticulated Python.
